I started riding in Calgary and Chestermere with my cousins. We would spend a lot of time just cruising around riding small hills. I loved the freedom that I felt when I was on a board, and also loved how accessible the sport is. You don’t need a $5000 bicycle or piece of equipment to do it. Now I still ride all the time because it’s a great challenge, good exercise, and a fun activity to do with my friends.
Being apart of PARKtek is is truly like being a part of a family. Everyone is always looking out for one another, and always bringing the stoke level up.We don’t outsource our board making to other countries, or treat our athletes like disposable objects. We nurture a culture of love and acceptance, while still being edgy and always challenging ourselves.
My favorite board for freeriding and pushing around is The Poutine because the wheel flares and kick are amazing. For downhill it would be a toss up between The Good Copy or Super Sonic Blast. They both lock you in and are super stable at speed.
