I was about 19 when I started riding - I had just finished veterinarian assistant school and was working at a clinic in Abbotsford, BC. I loved my job, but I couldn't see myself working there for the rest of my life.

I wanted more while I still had my youth. I looked at my life and I chose to pursue my passion for snowboarding. I wanted to be a professional. I looked into coaching - the whole 9 yards. I needed something that I could practice the flow of snowboarding, but during the summer months. That's about when I met the local Abbotsford skate crew YARDWASTE. They were so much fun to hang out with, always laughing and causing shit.

I was then invited to Danger Bay 10 on the Sunshine Coast. I had to work so I was only able to make it to the party night after the race (I didn't even see the race). I had the most fun I'd ever have in my life that night. That event changed my life forever (I raced it the following year!) I immediately went and bought a Chinook, fully loaded. I went out riding with a team from Vancouver, practicing at our local pathway "Cancer Curves". It's been downhill ever since.

On my 21st birthday I bombed my first hill, riding coned Abec 11 flashbacks, and didn't crash! I remembering being afraid to tuck because I couldn't stop thinking how close my face was to the pavement, but the thrill overcame that thought very quickly.

I'm absolutely in love with longboarding, and just shredding a board. The element of controlled chaos and commitment it takes to ride a piece of wood keeps me growing on so many levels. My pursuit of living my best life, and having as much fun as I can doing it, keeps me coming back, and motivates me to put in the work. The friends I've met, priceless. Memories and experiences, irreplaceable. I owe my life to this sport. It brought me out of a slump, spout of depression, lack of confidence, idle hands, unhealthy living - and turned me into the person I am happy to be today.

I met PARKtek in Vernon in 2016. They were all super chill, friendly and brought demo boards for everyone to try! I saw the Major Tom and I knew instantly I would love it. Matt told me I could take it home and give it a try - I was stoked! It became my everything board. Downhill or freeride - it was comfortable for both. I won my first race on that board, I'll never forget it.

My favorite part of the company is the passion that fuels each one of them. I love that you GET SHIT DONE! I absolutely love your number one rule is 1) Always love each other. I admire that you take the opinions of riders to heart, and give back in so many ways. I love that everyone works so hard despite working their regular full-time jobs because you all love the sport of riding. I know you use to make snowboards too I'm so proud to have friends like you to look up to!

My favorite board is easily the Major Tom! I've loved it since I laid eyes on it. Everywhere I took it, people kept asking me about it. They'd never seen a T-Rex graphic before. It's perfect for my small tuck, and the aggressive back pockets helps me keep locked-in when doing toe-side slides. There is a micro divot that is more noticeable in the back than front. When I learned squat slides, that is where I put my tilted foot. The platform is flat until it flares out at the rails hugging my feet into place and making slides easier in my opinion! 😊
